this simple, scrappy form is something I saw during my travels to Japan. a large flat piece of clay was folded over on itself and pressed together just in the center to create a place for a plant. Those forms were clearly intended as a planter but I knew I wanted to make it in a smaller scale. candlesticks were the perfect fit. they’re great for other things too: cone incense, rings, but my favorite is using them for classic 1” tapers.
the interior is the only glazed portion for easy cleaning.
